Exhibition on theater posters, graphic arts opens in Iran

An exhibition of theater posters and graphic designs opens at a gallery in Tehran, Iran.

An exhibition of theater posters and graphic designs has opened at a gallery in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.

The Iranian Artists Forum (IAF) will hold the nine-day exhibit at their galleries in Tehran, IAF director Majid Rajabi-Memar said during the opening ceremony on Friday.

The exhibit is aimed at showcasing valued Iranian theater posters, dating back to the era of the Qajar King Ahmad Shah (the time before the Pahlavi dynasty was founded).

“Today, graphic designs are inseparable from the lives of people and it is such a great honor that we have prominent Iranian graphic designers such as Morteza Momayyez, who made great efforts to establish the forum,” Rajabi-Memar noted.

Graphic designer, Bahram Kalhornia, also speaking at the ceremony, noted that graphic art is part of the fate of mankind and cannot be separated from his life.

“The skeleton of the world has been made of graphic designs. The artists give meaning to the world and the graphic designs transfer that meaning to others,” Kalhornia said.

Some of the posters at the exhibit are very early snapshots of the plays that went on stage in the Iranian cities of Rasht and Tabriz in older times, director of Iranian Graphic Designers Society (IGDS), Ebrahim Haqiqi, also highlighted.

The Iranian Artists Forum’s exhibit will come to an end on May 6.
